In addition to my education, I have previous experience tutoring students in elementary school up to college students. A Little Bit About Me...

I worked as a synthetic organic chemist at Eli Lilly pharmaceutical company for five years. I spent the next 20+ years as a stay-at-home mom and homeschooler, teaching my three children from kindergarten until they graduated from high school.(My two oldest are now college graduates and the third is presently in college.) During my years of homeschooling, I taught both chemistry and biology to high school students in our homeschool group. I have also tutored friends who were in nursing programs and struggling with chemistry. I enjoy algebra and geometry and have done some tutoring in each subject. Students learn better when they see the relevance of the material they are studying to their own lives. In many subject areas this relevance is not obvious, and students may tune out as a result. I always use concrete examples that students can relate to when explaining a concept. I notice that many high school instructors do not teach the basics of science. I believe it is important to cover the basics of the periodic table and elements for one to enjoy Chemistry. I try to make learning fun. I make note cards and sheets for my students. I am very compassionate and easy to talk to.
Throughout my college career, I have worked in many different fields. The field that has given me the most satisfaction is tutoring. I like to have a relationship with the students I tutored where they feel comfortable with me; I want them to be able to tell me the problems they're having with the work and what I can do to help. I like to be friendly with them while still being an authority figure where they want to do their best. I think this type of relationship allows me to push the students to their maximum limit without discouraging them when we're having a difficult session.
