Reading Comprehension is one of my top subjects! My comments on tutoring Reading Comprehension : I worked as a teacher in a private school for children with dyslexia. My position was as a Language Fundamentals Teacher and I was trained using the Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching. This is a multi-sensory approach and very highly regarded as a successful approach for children with dyslexia and reading disabilities. It includes tutoring for reading, reading comprehension, writing, spelling, grammar, vocabulary, and other skills related to English basics. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Human Development from Vanderbilt University with a specialization in Special Education and a Master's Degree in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University. Both of my educational careers involved extensive training related to infant and child development, special needs and high-risk infant, child, adolescent, and family populations, and internships within numerous developmental centers, schools, and hospitals.

I have worked with children and adolescents for over 30 years in various capacities and not only have a substantial amount of experience in varying types of special needs, but have very good rapport with children of all ages. Creating Confident Students via Creative Learning

I like to use hands on and/or creative teaching methods when possible. I believe that practice and persistence makes perfect. I would say that my teaching style is "outside of the box". I use this effective method when possible, due to the fact that typically students have tried more standardized methods and have not been able to learn from them; therefore they seek tutoring.
