When helping students learn and understand material I believe it is important to first gain the student's trust, so they will not resist receiving help. I am a recent college graduate and find that it is easier to relate to, communicate with, and gain the trust of students, since I was in their position not long ago. For 34 years I have taught almost every science, but my focus for the last 28 years has been chemistry - both high school and college courses. Since 1993 I have served as an AP Reader and a College Board Consultant, grading the AP Chemistry Exams and teaching teachers how to establish their AP program. Over 94% of my AP students have earned a "3" or better, with over 50% scoring a "5".
