Civil Engineer

I have over 15 years of experience in the field of Civil engineering practice. I have worked in both the private and public sectors. I hold a bachelor's degree as well as a master's degree in civil engineering. I am also a certified soil evaluator in the state of Massachusetts. I have a Bachelor of Art in History, predominantly American. I also pursued Engineering for my first year and plan to go back to College. I have completed through Calculus II and am also experienced in hands-on mechanical. I have limited tutoring experience, but I know I can listen and respond. Any experience came from helping others in classes during College.
I'm patient and listen to the student to see what they get and don't get about the premise of the lesson. Then we get to it. Careful reinforcement of the Correct method will ensure Remembrance and Results. Also, Lessons must be approached within the context of the Big Picture. Students need to realize that there are no pointless or forgettable sections. Basically, communication is key followed by practice, reinforcement, more practice. Learning can be at pace, but laziness and whining will not be tolerated.

My teaching style is unique to each student's indivdual needs. I take time to recognize my students learning style and provide the need materials or teaching style based their needs. To teach is to "impart knowledge or skill to somebody by instruction or example" while education is defined as "to develop mentally, morally, or aesthetically especially by instruction". I aspire to be an educator, as defined above. While I believe in the content of the sciences, I am interested in evoking the thought process to utilize the scientific method as a problem solving technique applicable to all areas of life. A Little Bit About Me...

My passion as a teacher is working with children. I have a passion for education that I hope to show through my teaching and share with all of my students. I believe every student learns differently and has strengths and weaknesses. My goal is to get to know my student's leaning styles and help them develop their strengths and use those strengths to improve the areas that are more difficult for them.
