I use the Orton- Gilingham multi sensory approach.

ORTON-Gilingham multi sensory approach. Math without words until the concept is mastered. Using lots of manipulatives including video games, that teach concepts.
I Have worked for the Davis County School district for 12 years. The last few years I have been working intervention for students who are not performing at grade level. I have learned that not all kids can learn the way they are taught in school. My 8 year old is dyslexic. I Have studied the Orton-Gilingham multisensory approach to reading and spelling. I have also learned to engage children in activities that are fun and creative. I will not be doing the same teaching style as there school.

A Little Bit About Me...

I never realized exactly why people go into teaching until I gained first hand experience. Teaching is one of the most rewarding things one can do as a profession. When I first started lab instructing, I immediately fell in love with it and did it as long as the university allowed me. I look forward to any teaching opportunity that may come my way in the future.
As a Weber State graduate, I majored in Zoology and minored in Chemistry. Even though science has always been a passion of mine, I am very knowledgeable in math. I love kids - they are often sweet, funny, easily impressed and are a great audience. I know that it is possible to make learning fun through a close, interactive relationship with a student - showing and guiding them through your own discovery of the subject. A Little Bit About Me...

I get to know the student first and see how best he/she learns. and go from there. I have worked with so many different personalities that I have been able to help each the best I can with understanding and patience. Tutoring a subject that I also had to learn will make it easier to teach them the tools that I needed to do the same. I hope that by showing how I did and that it was doable that they too can do it.
I was an American Read tutor at two elementary schools. I worked with kindergarteners and third graders to enhance their reading skills. In a one on one setting with approved books and kept them on track will goals that we set to meet each each. While I earned a bachelor's of science in Zoology where I took human anatomy. I have also tutored my younger four siblings through school.
