Due to my love of reading and writing I have chosen to pursue a degree in the Classics at Whitman College. In 2007 I was asked by a professor to privately tutor another student in Latin. I joined the team at the Academic Resource Center and have been tutoring college students in English and other writing-intensive courses ever since. I enjoy the process of helping students to learn. It is a great experience to see their minds grasp a new concept or idea. I love working with children. I have helped with pre-K and grade school children with an emphasis on working with Autistic children. All children can succeed in school given the right tools; just because they do not get the idea from one method does not mean that they won't get it from a different method. I think that all children can learn regardless of age, learning ability or other status, if given a chance.

A Little Bit About Me...

My bachelor's degree from University of Missouri-Columbia is in Political Science. I also minored in Art History. I have done extensive research in each of these areas and feel competent to teach or tutor either. In 2005 I joined the U.S. Peace Corps as a TEFL teacher. I taught English to Mongolian students from elementary school to adults in both classroom and individual settings for two years.
