My comments on tutoring Pre-Algebra : Tutored student who had not passed a math test in 1.5 years to a passing grade in class

I have a calm, amiable personality and achieve results by being enthusiastic and building up students so that they feel good about their math abilities. I like to explain math concepts via visual aids (graphs, pictures, charts, diagrams) and an extensive number of examples.
I taught advanced high school mathematics at McKinney Christian Academy for five years (2005 - 2010). This involved the following classes: AP Calculus AB, Honors PreCalculus, and Advanced Algebra II. In addition, I have tutored students for the PSAT Math, ACT Math, SAT Math, SAT-1 Math, and SAT-2 Math.

I have five children of my own and spend many hours helping them with school work. I have found that patience and repetition in many cases are very good paths to success. I do not believe in becoming frustrated with children that do not understand as it only raises their frustration level as well. A Little Bit About Me...

I tutored all subjects - especially in Math all through High School. I also tutored in college. I have strong skills in Math - all levels - but I especially enjoy algebra. I have two children and I basically taught my oldest son math, since he was a different kind of learner than the way they teach at school. He is a very kinesthetic type learner and needs to see, feel and touch to understand the concepts - so I used a lot of tools to help him. I can tutor math and science exceptionally well and other subjects for the younger levels.
I enjoy teaching when there is a bit of a challenge getting the student to understand the concept. As I have mentioned, I can use different styles to help the student get the concept.
