I fundamentally believe anyone can learn. If a student isn’t grasping a concept, it just means I have to change my style of teaching. A Little Bit About Me...

I find working with children rewarding. I am patent and understanding and cater to individual learning styles. I use my artistic sense to help students visually understand learning. I believe the key to understanding and learning is to make learning fun and memorable. I'm a strong believer in constructivist learning and believe that children need to explore to learn.
I started out working as a Head Start teacher's assistant and the following year I was promoted to Head Start teacher and manager. I graduated with honors from a formal university, where I tutored fellow classmates; however, I gained most of my tutoring and teaching experience overseas, in a universal classroom. I have taught youth and adults in Mexico, Spain, Chad, Benin, Morocco and other countries. In most of those cases I was teaching English, but I also taught key aspects of health, sustainable development, lifelong skills and leadership. I taught classes ranging in size between 5 and 100. My teaching experience includes a wide variety of situations. I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with children in grades kindergarten, one, two, three and four in a number of educational models, including multi-age groupings, departmentalized models and the traditional classroom. A Little Bit About Me...

No one teaching style works with all students, or even a majority of them. I enjoy the challenge of finding ways to make academic subjects interesting and relevant to different students. I usually use a combination of guided discovery, question-and-answer, and hands-on approaches to teaching and learning.
My broad-based educational background gives me a firm foundation for interacting with students on a variety of levels. I have taught both French and Mathematics at the college level, have tutored Math, Physics and Chemistry at the college level, and have substituted in high schools and junior highs as well. As a research mathematician with GE, I have explained mathematical concepts to adults with a wide range of backgrounds.
