My approach to teaching art is philosophical at its core because creativity belongs to being. The rules of art are derived from the laws of Nature. My philosophy of teaching art is based on learning to allow the relationship between art and the natural world to emerge in a way that one can be open to and follow the dictates of his or her own experience with making art.

I began teaching in fifth grade when my science teacher conceded that I knew more about sharks than he did, so when we got to that lesson, I took over for two days. In tenth grade, I had an internship at my high school teaching ninth grade Global Studies. When I graduated college, I began substitute teaching while I wrote my first few novels. I have worked at a few different jobs and just went back to college again at Utica School of Commerce and got my certificate degree as a Medical Office Assistant.

I believe that children will learn from someone they trust to talk to and from someone who they trust to give them the correct answers to their questions. I enjoy being that person. While working on my associates degree I tutored pre-calculus and statistics. I also worked briefly with catholic charities tutoring all subjects for high school students in need. I then completed my bachelors degree while tutoring part time at SUNY Oswego and independently with a high school student in Math and AP physics.
