Over the years I have found math and reading/writing to be important skills and they were amongst the most useful tools I had ever learned. I encourage students to see the wonder and "mystery" (there really isn't any mystery) of Math, regardless of the level, in the real world. To that aid, I try to present real world problems at levels the student can understand. For lower level students, I investigate with them the development of the linear equations involved in setting up a relationship between two factors. Tutors may also fall into the trap of simply giving the student the answers. For these reasons I prefer an holistic approach to tutoring.
