As a non-traditional, graduate of Nazareth of Rochester, it has become very clear why an excellent education is clearly the only way to achieve autonomy, which I believe is crucial to all. I earned my dual-certification and Bachelor's Degree in Regular Education and Special Education. Because my own son had learning disabilities, I earned my Master's in Reading. I have worked with the Rochester City School District for 8 years. This experience has given me the opportunity to be involved with very diverse learning styles and abilities.
The following is my personal philosophy of education: I believe that all children have the to ability to learn. A student's curriculum should be integrated with multiple-intelligences in mind. I have had the unique opportunity through my diverse educational experiences to work with many different types of people. My initial degree is in Social science from Alfred State University. Throughout my education at Alfred State University I truly believe I began to understand and appreciate others and their differences. I received my second degree from Cortland State University in Early Childhood Education with Inclusion. I had the opportunity to work with many different types of children. I also had many diverse experiences while teaching first grade in Florida. In addition to teaching first grade I was also lucky to be able to tutor children from disadvantaged communities and help them thrive in school.
