A Little Bit About Me...

I help alot of my friends at school with their homework and I am in Journalism 3, AP music theory and AP English Comp & Lit. I graduate in the spring of 2013. I am a High School Senior. I am going to College in the fall of 2013 and I am getting my Bacholors Degree in Graphics and Multimedia. I have been apart of my marching band for 3 years and colorguard for 4 years, I have been writing for my school newspaper for 3 years. Graphic Design is one of my top subjects! I have been a graphic designer for 10 years and have real world experience with clients. I have done work for Solo Cup, Target, Sesame Street, Kroger, Aldi and Starbucks.

I have worked in the graphic design/advertising field for 10 years and have been drawing all my life. I run the gamut from Photoshop and Illustrator to pencil, charcoal and watercolor. I think it's important to know how to build a file well so that it is enabled for printing, while not compromising creativity. With drawing it is important to draw what you see before you can invent. Anatomy is important.
I like to draw students out with questions and get them thinking for themselves. In order to handle situations in the real world one needs appropriate problem solving skills. When I show something to a student I want them to repeat what I've just done and then explain why this works - but I want them to also try and find another way that will work. (If there is one)

It's imperative to listen and understand a students challenges. Reviewing their previous work and giving a current test is a good indicator of the situation. I believe in practice and examples as the clearest path to success. I don't hand deliver answers and I make the process towards answers engaging. I make sure the time and place are conducive to active and non-distractive learning. I relay the importance and relevance of the material. I have become very adept at determining what level each student is at and tailoring my teaching style to suit the students that I am working with.
