In science and math the learner has to practice much like learning to play a musical instrument. It helps if you can bring real world applications into the classroom so it is meaningful to the students otherwise they feel like they are learning something just for the cause of learning.
While completing my teaching degree I taught for three years with troubled youth. Subjects were regents level and the subject was earth science and algebra or course I as it is called in NY. I have also taught Summer school at the Allen Center in South Kortright which can be a tough crowd to work with. During my undergraduate studies I tutored chemistry and biology. I also taught 8th grade physical science in Prince George Virgina.

Over the years I have found math and reading/writing to be important skills and they were amongst the most useful tools I had ever learned. Over the years it has served we well and I enjoy teaching the material to younger people while explaining to them its benefits, but also allowing them to have a skill that will serve them well. I have a great deal of patience, compassion and understanding with younger people because I realize that everyone learns at different rates. Most of my work experience was gain as a teacher’s aide.I work in a self contained classroom.I worked with students in small groups or individually.I would grade and enter grades for the teacher.I took students to Physical Education by myself.I organize and prepare the learning material for the week.I taught science and computer skills portion of the classroom.Each student gave a short PowerPoint on what they where learning in science during Parent Conference.First quarter of the year I was an Assistant Soccer Coach and the rest of the year in the After School Program working with elementary students as a tutor.On occasional I tutored high school students during my personal lunch period.
