Economics and Portuguese tutor, learn the different way!

I am currently a Master's student in Economic Theory and Policy at the Levy Economics Institute. I have several years of experience with economic theory, practice, econometrics, research and analysis and truly enjoy discussing it. I was a tutor for both economics and Portuguese (my native language) during my undergraduate years.
I like to have very hands-on tutoring sessions with a lot of discussion and where the student and I work together to solve any of the issues at hand. I often connect in-class theory to real life examples, and try to keep things fun and interesting. My approach and background in economics are unorthodox, and thus I will surely help the student see any of the "usual" topics from a new and different perspective.

I began to work at Regions Bank in New Albany the Summer after my Senior year of high school. While still working for the bank, I attended Ole Miss for a year, then transfered to Northeast for the next year. I returned to Ole Miss to recieve my bachelors degree in Managerial Finance with an emphasis in Investments. I am now employed for a furniture company out of Tupelo, where I am an Accountant. Although I do not have much teaching experience, I am quite knowledgeable with Financials and Accounting Principals. I have turtored a few children in mathmatics, and I also helped other classmates.

I attained my first degree in Supply Chain Management from Syracuse University in 2003. After working in that field for a few years, however, I chose to change my career path. I then went back to school at the City College of New York to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering. I am happy to say that I am graduating this month (December 2010), and have not regretted pursuing this second degree at all. Through my college experiences I have completed over 220 credits in many subjects, with my strongest in the math, sciences and engineering.

I received a technology degree in 1975. Several years later I returned to college to persue a Physics/Mechanical Engineering Degree from SUNY New Paltz and RPI. I was an "A" student in Physics and enjoyed tutoring many classmates. I was a guest lecturer several times at RPI. Due to work and family commitments I did not complete the degree. My wife and I homeschooled our children through the primary grades. I taught sciences. While an Employee at IBM, I wrote and taight technical courses. Students learn skills by using them in a realistic, subject-specific context, and in a combined way. So they might use other skills taught before such as note taking, highlighting, all in context. A Little Bit About Me...

While studying for my undergrad in economics I found a passion in helping others succeed as I was. I often held study sessions with groups ranging from 2- 10 people at least twice a week.
