I have earned bachelor degrees in International Business/Finance which has enabled me to gain understanding in areas of math and business. I typically try to understand that individual's learning style and try to incorporate or explain the topic from that perspective. I have a BS in mechanical and materials Engr from the university of conneccticut. I have masters in science management, MBA and project management. I have experience a design engineer, Material failure analyst, project engineer, project manager and program manager. I believe that a love of school and learning begins with confidence in one's own abilities. Some find it easy, and others need a certain dose of encouragement and guidance to gain that self-assurance. As a tutor, I think it’s important to provide consistent practice and celebrate small successes so that the student rediscovers how good it feels to do well. In addition to regular exercises, I take the time to explain how and why things work and what their applications are in life outside school. I believe that this helps the student understand the rationale behind their efforts and can spark more enthusiasm to learn. I also try to identify each student’s special talents and incorporate them into my curriculum. That way, they can learn to identify what they are good at and how to apply those skills to any subject. Coming from a poor background I was very much determined to change my family economic situation. I work hard and smart to make this happen and in the process I have acquired training and learning skills that will empower students from every background. In 1998 I founded a non-profit organization GHAPE and I have been providing varied trainings to the needy to explore their potentials. In 2008 I was an adjunct professor at the University of Bridgeport. I will again be teaching one course to undergraduate in the Fall of 2010. My teaching methods are determined by my audience, that is the student. I use lecture method, inquiry, demonstration, visualization, questions and answers, discovery and constructivism which is a student center appraoch. I hold that students can reach their potential if carefully guided. I work each day striving to pull the best out of each student.
