Let me Guide Your Child

Having taught for more than five years as a certified teacher, I feel that I have what it takes to be an educator. Understanding the psyche of the student is of prime significance to me, which helps me in directing the teaching strategies and techniques. In order to let the student realize the significance of learning, I try to design a curriculum that is application based.
I prefer that the student understands the purpose behind learning. In order to achieve my goal, I spend quality time in talking and developing an effective communication platform. I began tutoring people when I was in the eigth grade. I decided I wanted to help out at the school across the street from my middle school in Colorado. I enrolled in a class that allowed us to go and assist the teachers and help the students. I fell in love with kids then for sure. I already knew I liked them because I started babysitting when I was 11 and couldn't stop! Then in ninth grade, a neighbor failed kindergarten and asked if I would starting coming over several days a week to help him understand what was being taught. Needless to say, he made it to the first grade! I now have a 17 year old sister who is constantly asking for my assistance in her homework and it is with great pleasure that I assist her.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate of Texas Southern University, where excellence is our motto, I was driven to acheive excellence in biology. I earned my BS in Biology in December of 2009, which has enabled me to gain understanding in science and math. I have also learned during my time at TSU to write and gain skills in writing due to writing lab reports and many essays along the way. During the last five years I have had a chance to tutor a few of my fellow biology majors in biology.
Teaching and working with children I believe is a passion one must have it can't be acquired. All children can learn and can find a joy in the learning process if they are guided well. I really try to find out how the student learns best as well as what the student specifically is having issues doing. I then try to target those areas of weakness using methods that appeal to how that student learns. I very much like to incorporate the use of technology to make the job easier and more engaging for the student whenever possible.
I have trained adults for about 5 years in total both in a business and education setting. I have taught/tutored students for 3 years in total.
