I use visual and auditory means to show the proper way to record the transactions then have the student repeat back what I said and enter the data to further enforce the method. After all is said and done, I show them the results from the transactions cause and effect on their books in the profit and loss, balance sheet, general ledger.
33 years of accounting, bookkeeping, tax, payroll, journal entries, profit and loss statement, balance sheet, cash flow, budgets, fixed assets, depreciation schedules, sales tax, excise tax, and consulting. Worked with industries in wholesale, retailer, and services. I handle companies with cash and accrual base accounting with C & S Corporations, LLC, Partnerships, and sole proprietors. As a training manager, I often taught classes to large groups of individuals on subjects such as statistics, Microsoft Office programs, and teamwork, problem solving and quality concepts. Further, as an engineer, I did a lot of one-on-one teaching of job instructions and job changes. I further informally taught other engineers how to perform different tasks in Word and Excel.
Although I am an engineer by education, I have often found myself in a teaching role of all groups of people.
