My comments on tutoring Science : I hold a Ph.D. In Biomedical Science with a focus on molecular virology and molecular biochemistry..

I believe that stimulating conversation and allowing people to arrive at answers on their own and through experience is the best way to form lasting connections.
I took a variety of Biology classes and Labs at WPI mostly focused on Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics. I recently finished my PH.D. where I studied control of viral gene expression. This work encompassed a variety of biological disciplines including virology, cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and molecular genetics, all of which I am quite experienced in. My style is dependent on the student. While the end result is having a student understand the material, the way of achieving this varies with each person. A Little Bit About Me...

I went to school at the age of 23 and graduated at the age of 29 in May 2010. Throughout that time, I worked as a machinist and labored as a father of two boys. These may not be official credentials, but the experiences of teaching my own boys and training uneducated workers has given me a depth of patience that most others lack. It is this patience, I have found, that allowed me to be successful as a teacher’s assistant in my Number Theory course. This course met twice a week; once for the professor’s lecture and once as a student only discussion. I have found that the best way to teach math is through analogy and real world examples. I prefer to teach general as opposed to specific methods, as these are more widely applicable. However general methods appear to be best taught through specific examples and with a great deal of patience. I am also a great fan of student encouragement as nothing can be done by the student if hey lack the necessary confidence.
