I began tutoring privately,as well as,for my school's learning center during the early 1990's. I have continued tutoring privately on and off for the past twenty years. I was a substitute teacher in California and Michigan during the 2000's. I also had my own high school level classroom in California for two school years. I was hired on an "Emergency Credential" because I had my BS but no teaching credential. I was laid off due to budget cuts in June of 2003. I also taught "at-risk" elementary age children during the summer for the Glendora Unifed School District in Glendora, CA. I tutored privately for three years from 2005-2008 in south Los Angeles County and north Orange County, CA. I can provide recommendations from these clients if you are interested. My youngest students were in first grade with my oldest students attending college.

My comments on tutoring Special Education : I used to work with kids that had Autism and I loved every second of it.

I am a high school honor roll student. My strong points are English, grammar,phonics,reading,writing,science,history. My comments on tutoring Special Education : 2-3 years as a substitute teacher.

My method of tutoring is to work with students where they are and add to their skills, to accomplish the final outcome, preferably an "A" or "B." Some students are visual learners and some are informational learners, or some students combine the two. The potential I see in students is what I try to bring out and have them realize they are capable of going a step further, to reach their goal. The importance of education and the students' continuance of same cannot be stressed enough.
I started out tutoring elementary students in basic math and English grammar while I attended college part time in the 1980's. A Little Bit About Me...

I will show the student how to do the steps of designing something but make sure that they are doing the clicking on their own computer. I won't take over there mouse or computer and show them. I feel you learn more when you physically perform the tasks yourself while you watch and listen.
I received my Bachelors of Fine Art in Visual Communications from the Art Institute of Michigan. I've designed a logo and business card for a restaurant that has opened in my city and also have done some digital artwork and hand drawn art work that hangs on the walls inside. I've designed a book cover for a published book that is available online. I free lance my graphic design skills whenever I can. I have a love for learning and teaching!

I have been teaching special education for six years. I taught special education to kindergarten through third grade in a Montessori school for four years. I have experience in teaching students with disabilities in reading, writing, and math. My comments on tutoring Special Education : As a Resource Room teacher for children with Special Needs I had the opportunity to get to know my students very well in a small setting.

I have taught in both public and private school settings. In the public school setting I was a Resource Room Teacher for students with varied learning and behavior needs.
