My teaching style can vary depending on what age level that I am teaching. According to Erik Erickson, there are eight stages of learning that we develop as children until we become an adult learner. So for the ages (2-7) my teaching style would be a hands- on learning approach. There would be a lot of visual aids and colorful pictures. Since children at this age learn through their senses.

Students generally perform better with hands-on practice. I provide multiple opportunities for hands-on and guided practice as time permits. Associate new concepts to familiar ones. Our memories are largely associative in nature. Therefore, providing connections from new concepts back to well established ones increases our retention and recall. This is especially important in building up understanding in mathematics. Provide relevant examples. A student who is actively enaged in the lesson will learn more.
For the past two years, I have been working as an adjunct instructor and tutor in mathematics and computer information systems for a local Community College. This experience has been so fulfilling, that I am diligently pursuing a career change from Information Technology professional to teaching. I have 8 years experience in teaching Math, Physics & Chemistry in India handling 8th to 12th grades. I have 4 years in US teaching Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Geometry CP and Physics handling 9th to 12th grades.
I love this profession as my grand parents were Teachers. I came to US to teach but I learned variety of things as how to present the content.
