I believe in meeting students right where they are, and letting them progress at their own rate. I make learning as relevant as possible and incorporate many hands-on learning opportunities. My focus is on each student's unique needs and skills

The key to my tutoring approach is that every student is unique. After we discuss what each student wants to focus on, I ask them to write a paper about a subject that we agree on. Then I take them through several revisions, with each revision focusing on key things they need to work on. I often recommend that students practice creating sentences and paragraphs that focus on each separate concept or skill they need to become proficient in. I follow that procedure over several appointments in which they write additional essays until my students are ready to move ahead without my assistance.

A Little Bit About Me...

Since April 2007, I have been a substitute teacher at both the Watkins Glen High School and Middle School. Frequent subjects include English, Psychology, and Physical Education. I belong to a writers group which meets at the local library every first and third monday. I belong to a chess club that meets at a coffee shop every Thursday.
