A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate of a small liberal arts college, I have spent many hours volunteering to help tutor my classmates in both biology and the humanities. I hold a bachelor's degree in biology. I have learned extensive grammatical skills through my school's intensive general studies program. I am confident in my ability to tutor students in mathematics, science, English and the humanities at the K-12 level and biology and English at the college level.
I believe that students best learn from doing. My role as a tutor is not just to provide answers, but to facilitate and encourage learning. However I am also able to provide a knowledge base in a number of subjects to help answer questions the student may be struggling with. I am comfortable working with children of all ages to help them meet their full learning potential as students.

Life is the greatest teacher. Throughout my life I have been presented with numerous opportunities to expand upon my natural abilities. At a young age I was bilingual in English & Spanish which opened up opportunities for me to informally translate in my community. I have always had a thirst for knowledge& my wide experience base enabled me to tutor high school&college level &special needs students in math, science, communication, social studies, English,dance, test prep,etc. My love of helping people learn also inspired me to be a substitute teacher for students from K-12th grade. The key to being a good teacher is being patient. I believe children learn best in a positive and stress-free environment. When a child does good on the work then I praise them and if they make a mistake then I explain to them the error in the homework. When I was a small child, I remember my teacher being patient and helping me along the way. I feel that although children learn in different ways and different paces that being patient with children is a universal and effective teaching style.
