A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught high school and middle school English, as well as one year of teaching at an alternative school. Additional experience would include substitute teaching, Boys and Girls Club instruction, being a Girl Scout leader, and Sunday school instruction. I also have some experience as a homebound teacher and tutor. I am currently working on my Master's Degree in English Literature at WKU and substitute teaching.
My teaching style is very interactive, as I believe that a student learns more quickly and retains more if he/she is actively involved. I believe that students best learn from doing. My role as a tutor is not just to provide answers, but to facilitate and encourage learning. The key to being a good teacher is being patient. I believe children learn best in a positive and stress-free environment. When a child does good on the work then I praise them and if they make a mistake then I explain to them the error in the homework.
