Students generally perform better with hands-on practice. I provide multiple opportunities for hands-on and guided practice as time permits. Associate new concepts to familiar ones. Our memories are largely associative in nature. Therefore, providing connections from new concepts back to well established ones increases our retention and recall. I try to find the best way to relate the given information to the student. Not everyone learns the same way. I will find what makes the most sense to the student and help them understand the given information. Throughout my education, I sometimes just wanted a different approach to the information. I would ask others their opionions and things all of a sudden were clear. That is what I want for my students.
I have been involved in tutoring many of my peers throughout high school and college. I find it very rewarding to help others succeed in their education.
