I was the Director of the Math and Science Lab at Volunteer State Community College for over twenty years. I taught and tutored the students in all of the college's math and science classes. I have worked with mathematics subjects from Basic Math to Differential Equations, including Statistics. As a graduate of a small liberal arts college, I have spent many hours volunteering to help tutor my classmates in both biology and the humanities. I hold a bachelor's degree in biology. I have learned extensive grammatical skills through my school's intensive general studies program. I am confident in my ability to tutor students in mathematics, science, English and the humanities at the K-12 level and biology and English at the college level.

My experience as a teacher and instructor has been centered around my experience as a musician. Learning how to play and read music drastically helped me in school in all of my other subject areas. I knew early on that I would continue to play music and also that I would want to stay involved with music in some way. I earned a well rounded education from Western Kentucky University with a strong emphasis in math / Engineering. Since College I have pursued the Surveying field. I have recently obtained the status of Professional Land Surveyor with the State of Kentucky. I have taught young graduates surveying practices in relation to the Engineering field while in management positions. I would be very excited about teaching children.
I like to ask questions and get the student involved. I like to get the student engaged as much as possible. I would like to observe the method in which the student obtains the most information and expound on that variable, triggering many senses for better memorization. My teaching style would consist of trying to get the student to understand what they are studying which is considerably better than just simple short term memorization.
