My comments on tutoring Biology : I'm very well-versed in the concepts of evolutionary biology in particular.

I employ the Socratic method of asking lots and lots of questions. I see a tutorial as not a time for a student to soak up information, but to engage the mind and use the tools he has already been given. Of course, if a student truly doesn't know something crucial, I will tell him. I always try to make my instruction at least a little bit funny, and to connect the material to the student's interests, because these factors are known to enhance learning.
I have five years' experience as a writing tutor at my university, during which I wrote and presented papers at multiple regional conferences for university writing tutors. I rose to become one of the most respected and requested tutors out of my peers. I many credit hours of pedagogy and teaching methodology classes, both for Teaching ESL and Latin, and a semester of student teaching under my belt.

Biology is one of my top subjects!

Interactive and personal. As I work with my students I try and best understand what ways they enjoy working and learning so that I can make those a priority when developing lessons and activities.
I've worked extensively while attending college tutoring both as a volunteer in public schools and as a personal tutor. While tutoring in a public school setting I worked both with individual students and small groups in math and science classrooms. I am a registered and licensed Life Science Educator through the university I attended and additionally I am a registered and licensed Environmental Educator through an independent program with the state of Ohio. My hours are flexible as is the subject I can assist with. I am fully trained in educating students between grades 7-12 in both Life Science (Biology, Physiology, Anatomy, Zoology) and Earth Science (Environmental, Geological). Onc ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a recent college graduate from Ashland University with a degree in communication and French. While at Ashland as well as in high school, I was involved in peer tutoring programs. In high school, I tutored a second year student in French, mainly in grammatical concepts. In terms of mathematics, I was always a strong student in math. I completed algebra and geometry courses throughout high school. I was also a strong student in history. I completed American history courses in high school and college and even analyzed historical documents in one course. I have been playing piano for almost 14 years. I played mostly popular music such as What a Wonderful World, but I also played some classical pieces by Beythoven. I have participated in my teacher's recital since 2000 and have also participated in several talent shows at school and in the community. Finally, I have completed several sci ... read more

My comments on tutoring Biology : Took college biology classes.

I will ask the student how they learn a subject the best, and help them with their problem by reinforcing basic concepts and then adding on to those concepts. Also, I am a motivator; I will help the student understand that the subject is learnable and maybe even enjoyable to learn!
I have taught classes on aviation related subjects for my Civil Air Patrol. I was homeschooled all the way to the college level, and I remember a lot of subjects in great detail. I have not taught classes at a high school or college. Generally speaking, I have a vast area of knowledge and I know I can help you with your learning needs!

My comments on tutoring Biology : I have a Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences degree in Medicinal and Biological Chemistry from the University of Toledo. My undergraduate research work with resveratrol as a treatment for Alzheimer's utilized my knowledge of biology, as does my current work as an analytical chemist.

Since graduating from The University of Toledo in 2011, I have worked at a local pharmaceutical company as a chemist. I have been tutoring high school and college students in the Cleveland area for more than four years. I have experience with students on the Autism Spectrum, ESL students, students pursuing their graduate degrees and those wanting help with study tips. My sessions revolve around the needs of the student and are tailored for their success. I use technology, creativity and ingenuity to ensure my students not only understand the material but can retain it as well. I am a great tutoring candidate, because my education (two Bachelor's degrees: Medicinal-Biological Chemistry and German) provides me with a solid foundation in many areas such as ACT/SAT prep and general study tools. Because of my career, I have developed a proficiency in the sciences, mathematics and all aspec ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

" The mediocre teacher tells, the good one explains, the superior one shows, and the great one inspires..." I will inspire, explain, and show... in that order. Regardless of age (my youngest student was 4 and my oldest was 65) I believe that motivation is the cornerstone of all great learning. In fact, teaching without true motivation and belief is just glorified babysitting. Through inspiration and my extensive knowledge in various areas, your loved one will succeed. It is inevitable.
I have over 9 years of combined teaching and instruction experience at the junior high, senior high, private, collegiate, and adult levels. In January of 2008, I was hired to work at the University of Akron – Wayne College Learning Center as a peer tutor. We are responsible for helping students that come in seeking tutoring (including test preparation and homework help). Over the past two plus years, I have tutored students in mathematics (college level basic math 1 through calculus one) and chemistry. Over the past three and a half years, I have been working towards a degree in Chemical Engineering so I have familiarity with math through multivariable calculus (called Calculus three on our campus) as well as differential equations and chemistry: inorganic chemistry, biochemistry, and organic chemistry.
My teaching style is simply and varies from student to student. I am a visual learner, once I see an example done; I try to use what I’ve learned to solve a similar problem. Some people don't learn that way, I try to pi ... read more

I am a good listener and let the student tell me what problems they are having in any subject. I ask them questions to get them to think about what they're learning in depth. I let them explain things to me instead of just explain everything to them, this way I can find out what they already know and give them feedback so that they can improve on their weaknesses. I am patient with them and let them work at their own pace, never rushing them. I tailor my tutoring to each student's individual needs.
I tutored at Case Western Reserve's Center for Civic Engagement and Learning. I tutored kids of in middle school at the local library in all subjects. I have a bachelor's degree in biology and am in the postbaccalaureate program in nutrition.
