I currently have a bachelors degree in sociology with a minor in elementary education. During the past 4 years and working in the early childhood education industry I realized that many teachers were not getting the proper training that they needed to receive to help the children that they are serving. Once I realized this I decided to work on my Master's degree in Early Childhood Education in hopes that i could be an Early Childhood College Professor and teach students the ins and outs of the early childhood industry. From early on in my high school career I understood that passing AP tests could mean graduating from college in 3 years, saving money for grad school, and a chance to get into the professional world sooner. That's exactly what I did. I had to take some summer school and intersession classes, but I endured. All the while I was involved with an organization on campus that worked to educate the student body on a number of environmental issues, worked with volunteers on events and campaigns, and trained my peers to take the same leadership that I did. I love teaching and am comfortable teaching students of all ages. I've learned from tutoring that each student learns in a different way. The great thing about one-on-one or small groups is that the teaching style can be adapted to what 'clicks' with the student. Some need a big-picture, overview explanation before delving into the details, others need a step-by-step methodology. I believe that every study has the potential to learn if they keep trying and don't become discouraged. Often times, discouragement is the biggest barrier in learning.
