Hello! I have just graduated from the University of Delaware with a B.S. in Secondary Mathematics Education and a Physics minor. I have had a lot of experience teaching and tutoring thus far and am currently searching for a full-time teaching position for the fall but would love to continue tutoring this summer and fall. I have worked as a TA (Teacher's Assistant) and a math tutor for the Mathematics department at the University of Delaware for two years and have loved every minute of it. I also tutored locally and completed a full semester of student teaching at a local high school teaching Geometry, Honors Geometry, and IB Studies I.

My comments on tutoring Calculus II : I have been tutoring AP Calculus and College Calculus for almost 10 years.

I am patient, flexible, and versatile as a tutor. I understand that we all have different learning styles and that there is no one single approach that will work for everyone. I will show you multiple methods to solve a problem and help you find the one that works best for you. I have worked with adult learners, returning students, English language learners, and students with special needs. I have even taken formal coursework in education. I look forward to working with you and your individual educational needs!

Learning is a process to enjoy not to suffer!

I have created a special but easy method to learn and teach Chinese and Japanese speaking languages. I have two years experience in teaching students in Tokyo, and proven to be very effective and efficient. I helped to student to master the complicated Chinese tone in just one lesson of 45 minutes. I helped to student to master the Japanese pronunciation system in two lessons. Language learning should not be a hard process, just image not matter who he/she is, he/she can speak his/her mother language well. I myself learned a second language and mastered it just in 14 months. I speak Chinese, English and Japanese. As a master of sciences, I was a fun of math; I can help the student out of learning it.

A Little Bit About Me...

During my experience as a tutor, I have gained the ability to identify the best way to convey the material in a way that matches the individual needs of the learner. Another thing that I have learned as a student and as a math tutor, is that the best and the most efficient way of learning in math is through practice and more practice. My father has helped me a lot while I was in middle and high school in math and physics. He is a professor of physics and one thing that he taught me and I will never forget is that: while solving a problem in math or physics, always write down what you know and what you need to find out. Don't just keep it in your head. Put it down and that will help you find a solution.
As a young girl I grew up loving math and physics. I made sure to participate in every math and physics competitions in order to challenge myself and I was able to win two math compe ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I decided early on in my college experience that I wanted to major in mathematics. I worked hard for four years taking a variety of math classes that ended with my senior seminar project that showed how math can be used to project how deadly a disease can be. I earned my BS in Mathematics with a 3.9 GPA in the spring of 2009. I tutored younger college students for about a year in subjects like Calculus 1 and 2, Trigonometry, PreCalculus, and Algebra.
I love teaching other people and I really get a sense of satisfaction when they are able to understand what I have taught them. I tend to teach by using examples as I think it is easier for the student to understand a concept by seeing a visual picture or example. I am a patient teacher who works hard to make sure the student understands the concpet correctly.

More About This Tutor...

Mathematics is a joy and privilege to teach students because of its extensive relationship to the world and connection to everyday life. I believe that you need to relate to a child’s prior knowledge in order to gain an understanding of future material. I value a child’s discovery of a topic and act as a guide in my students learning. I challenge my students to think critically but also acknowledge their need to learn differently. One benefit of mathematics is the ability to teach a topic various ways so that all children can succeed. Using manipulative, visuals and technology my students can master material in a way that is meaningful to their learning style.
I have always been intrigued by mathematics especially it’s connection and explanations for various fields of science. By teaching my students the foundations of math I have grown to enjoy and appreciate it even more. ... read more
