A Little Bit About Me...

I like to use a mix of direct instruction and self-guided learning in my teaching. I use a variety of hands on manipulatives and I also like to get students up and moving around.
I am a recent graduate of the education program at Bowling Green State University and I have had a variety of experiences with children of all ages and abilities in and out of the classroom. I completed an 8 week field placement at Robinson Elementary in Toledo, OH where I assisted the teacher in a self-contained seventh and eighth grade classroom. I have my undergraduate degree in English/Creative Writing from Hope College in Holland, MI; I earned my Masters in Library Science from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. I worked with Open Books Ltd out of Chicago, IL, running Creative Writing Workshops for grade school students 4th-12th grade. I have just graduated high school, and have just finished thirteen years of learning. I have ADD, and have had a semester's worth of interning at the Specialized Language Development Center, working with kids who struggle with reading, writing, and comprehension.
