I think educators must take into account the different ways in which students learn. For instance, I've noticed that math students may have difficulty adding and subtracting fractions, but have no trouble whatsoever when I ask about dimes and quarters. If an instructor can build a bridge between new material and material the student has already mastered, the student's retention can significantly improve. I have tutored students in math and science (mainly math) for over 13 years. I have helped students in various levels of mathematics - basic math, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and pre-calculus.
