Tap instructor looking for driven students

I like to focus on rhythms and understanding tap dancing from a musical aspect. I use creative methods to teach students.
I have 20 years of dance experience. I specialize in tap, jazz, ballet and hip hop. I have 3 years of tap dancing experience in New York city in an off roadway show called Slide. I currently teach youth in the public schools as well as at a local studio. I teach private lessons currently at my parents home by will have my own location in downtown grand rapids later this summer.

I am an innate musician. I've been performing, singing, and playing piano and flute since elementary school and have always adored it. My music experience began with performance where many people from high school through college encouraged me to pursue it professionally. I love to teach, to be of service, to share my natural musicality with choirs, children's choirs, and private students. I finished my B.M. degree and served as pianist, organist, flutist, conductor, singer, choir director in several churches. I've also had private voice students. Every student is different; some require more help than others. As a teacher I have to find the best way for the child to learn. I want learning to be constructive, but also fun. I have discovered through years of education, that the amount of enthusiasm from an educator can make a huge difference. Therefore as an educator, I need to be patient and always encouraging. Adding details, examples, and stories to a study subject can help many students mentally see what I’m trying to teach.
