I believe that everyone learns in different ways and at different speeds; teaching begins with discovering the learning needs of each student. With this understanding, I believe that essentially any student can learn any subject if the curriculum is engineered to meet that student's learning needs. While the classroom encourages group learning, individual tutoring can meet the individual needs of each student. I believe that students learn best from teaching and therefore owning the material. This means that whenever I teach, I first explain the concept, then model my thought process of solving the problem, and then I have the student teach the material back to me. By teaching in this style, this allows the student the create his or her own understanding of the subject and retain it in the long run.
