Inspired Educational Help!

I first want to start out by saying that I have a passion for what I do. I have over seven years of experience as a tutor and mentor and it has been a very rewarding experience. I am currently a Secondary/Special Education Graduate student and am enjoying the process of learning more about the field. I received a BBA in Accounting and History in 2009, so I also have a background in Business. I will always be glad and willing to tutor in any class dealing with Business as well.
I consider myself a very patient tutor, which I think is essential to the process. That said, I usually offer the student a few options in which to learn the material. I then let them decide which option makes the most sense to them. I believe Education and learning is a very personal process, which is why it should be tailored to each individual differently. *I am available to help with homeschooling stu ... read more

I have worked with elementary, high school, and college-aged students, providing instruction in subjects ranging from English to biology. I am comfortable teaching a group, but I also have ample experience working one-on-one with students. I believe that course material should engage students. I do not believe that rote memorization is practical in most real-world situations, and I prefer to provide instruction in a manner that makes learning interesting and fun. This typically results in students who retain information long after a test is over.
I attended Thomas More College on an academic scholarship and graduated with honors in the spring of 2011 with a BA in Environmental Science. Presently, I am pursuing a Master of Biology degree at the University of Cincinnati, where I hold a University Graduate Scholarship as well as a Yates Scholarship. I worked as a private tutor from 20 ... read more

I have worked with children and families within the social work field. I have facilitated training classes for adults as well as went to school with children to help them with their school work. I've tutored them with homework, while working for Seven Counties Consulting Services, as well as privately tutored children. I love to work with children and like seeing them succeed
I believe all adults and children are different and various teaching styles work for some, while not others. I teach and show by example and like to give people practice while they are learning, while being available for any questions they have

Experienced Teacher and Mom can help your child achieve!!

I have six years of teaching experience across a variety of levels. Most of my experience is in Language Arts and Social Studies but I have Tutoring and Math teaching experience also. I am adept at identifying a learning need and meeting the outcome. I have worked with children in subsidized environments and with children who have education plans. A major asset is that I have worked with all ages and can tailor instructional programs that will meet the needs of the early learner through middle school/high school level. I am compassionate yet firm and meet the child where they are educationally and take them where they need to go!
I thrive on making learning fun for children but also love to help them see the relevance of what they have learned and what they can do with that skill. I have found that if a student knows why he/she has to learn something, they are far more inves ... read more

Poetry is one of my top subjects!

I have worked as a teacher in many capacities. I was a Dance Instructor at various studios, and I taught Communication Studies as a Graduate Instructional Assistant at Texas State University in San Marcos. I have more than 10 years of professional experience in a variety of occupations from tutoring, mentoring and supervising to doing extensive research, grading papers and tests, and preparing lesson plans. I believe it is important that people learn at their own pace, and I like to give students the tools and guidance to figure out things on their own.

English Tutor

Two years tutoring college freshman at Cincinnati Christian University. A year experience as an English Professor's graduate assistant. I conferenced with students individually about how to improve their papers. Two years experience as a sixth grade English teacher. A year experience teaching English in South Korea. 2012 Master's Degree in Biblical Studies Cincinnati Christian University 2006 Bachelor's Degree in English Education Kutztown University
I always teach the material in a way that was easy for me to learn. I learn best through "hands on" approaches. I learned how to write by practicing and imitating other professionals. My assignments are creative, but I always strive for practical results and measurable improvement. I want students to notice their improvement, but also to realize that what they've learned is useable in the "real" world.

Recently Retired Teacher with 31 Years of Experience

My passion is to teach, although retired, I will, always be a teacher, and that is why I want to teach. Due to the experiences I have had, I have become very proficient in my field. I will tutor or teach, by developing an individual learning plan, which begins with informal assessment, establishing, tangible learning goals, and targets implementation, and then, concludes with a final assessment to make sure benchmarks were reached. The parent and students will be assisting the tutor with designing and implementing the course of action to be taken. My philosophy is that success is based on hard work and commitment. I will help your child with homework and projects, and will give some informal practice on various skills to complete in between sessions. Regular study sessions are important to obtain success. Parent will receive, either, a verbal or written report at the end of each session, ... read more

Successful test prep retired English teacher

I recently retired from the HOPE School of Hamilton City Schools. The HOPE School is a credit recovery school that helps students get caught up for graduation. Students who are too far behind to complete graduation in a timely manner are given GED tutoring. I was in charge of this tutoring and tutoring for state standards tests. We had a 100% success rate in these areas.

My comments on tutoring Poetry : I have written poetry for about 12 years now. I took several poetry courses in college and still continue to write it, even having graduated. It is ranked at the top of my passions, alongside American Sign Language.

I went to Princeton High School, and took American Sign Language throughout my high school career. My senior year, I also mentored a fellow student who was deaf when she came to my school for a class. I also took courses at UC and recieved a certificate in Deaf Studies. I have also interacted with a few deaf people over the years.
I prefer teaching one on one, but I could teach a small group.

I have taken education classes at Northern Kentucky University. At one point, I was considering on being a Art Teacher. I didn't finish with that path, but I did gain much experience with children and knowledge during that time in working with students. I have worked and studied special needs children as well. I still consider going back for a Master's at some point in education. I think this job would be beneficial in my goals, and for my students, and a great learning experience for us both.
I am not overbearing. I am laid back, but at the same time, I make sure that the student learns what he/she needs to learn. I am very patient. I try to respect the student and not make learning seem like a chore. Building a foundation of learning skills, even during a short tudoring session can really change a student's approach in all of their classes.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love working with students of all ages. I believe that everyone can learn when they are given opportunities for success. Those opportunities most often give support to the student, but they also teach the student to take a responsibility for his or her own learning. I believe in teaching students to master concepts in such a way that they can also be successful unsupervised; thus, tutoring or additional instruction is an aid for success, not a crutch.
As an undergraduate, I spent three years in the education program. I clocked over 100 hours in public schools observing, mentoring, or otherwise working with children in elementary, middle, and high school. I also spent two years as a Writing Center Consultant where I worked with college students on their own writing. I was an ESL tutor for one semester where I worked with two small groups of Japanese speaking students on their Engl ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I match my teaching style to the learning style of each individual. My first session with the student is when I can determine whether their learning style is visual, audial, tactile, kinesthetic or a combination of these. I then write a prescription of study with the student that include several objectives and a timeline to achieve these goals. I work with the student to promote a sense of achievement and to build confidence for future learning.
Gaining and sharing knowledge has been a driving force throughout my life. Literacy is one of the greatest gifts we can give to our children. Having taught grade levels from preschool to adulthood, I know that everyone learns in their own unique manner and at their own time. My experiences span not only various age groups but different subjects as well, including math, algebra, biology, history, literature, Spanish, grammar, reading/phon ... read more

As an English major, I spent all 4 years at my private instutition tutoring my fellow students, not only in English and writing courses, but in all academic classes in which I had received a grade of "A" or "B". 3 of my 4 years at Lindsey Wilson were spent in the Education department, as I originally wanted to be a high school English teacher. I also spent several summers as a Camp Counselor, working with children aged 7-15 as well.
I like to determine my teaching style by first evaluating a child's current progress and learning style. Learning is a very individualized process, therefore, teaching must also be individual. I am a relaxed person, and I like to find a way to relate material to a child in a way that he/she will not only understand, but retain. Flash cards are great for some children, and other children will learn better with a pneumonic device, while still other le ... read more
