Patient and Friendly Tutor!

I try to engage my students in every way possible. Reading and reciting are great for vocabulary memorization, but I try very hard to bring the subject matter to life in a meaningful way to the student. Pictures, music, relevant historical information- anything to help facilitate learning.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a history major, I have a desire to learn more and teach more about the past. I have learned so much about the present through studying the past. I have written numerous papers and completed projects while in college. These will help me to teach students how to organize, prepare, and excel in history.
I believe in teaching according to the curriculum. However, I will also pull in information from other historical and academic sources that will enhance the student's learning experience. I believe in allowing the student to prove their capabilities by allowing them to demonstrate their knowledge in different ways. I believe students should take exams but they are not the only way I test students understanding of the material.

A Little Bit About Me...

I tutored students in various grades, mostly in mathematics, but also in science and social studies. I also tutored in physics and helped students understand the relationships between science and mathematics.

I was raised as a bilingual speaker, Italian & English, and was always fascinated by the workings of language. After my discharge from the Air Force in Australia, while studying for a BA in English & History, I began teaching and tutoring in this field. I was drawn to the Linguistics aspect of my study and after comopleting a BEd degree, I went on to specialize in this subject in my MA. I now speak several languages. I began my college career admitted at age 17 to a competitive Bachelor of Nursing program at Boise State University. I took courses in Science, Math, Chemistry, Psychology and Health before I transferred to Brigham Young University-Idaho to pursue Horticulture. BYU-I has one of the top Horticulture programs in the country (as recognized by PLANET). I competed for BYU-I as one of the front most students in 2 years of PLANET competitions. I personally finished twelfth of all 900 students competing and helped take our team to both a 1st and 2nd place finish. I also worked as a tutor for the horticulture department assisting college students in courses such as Landscape Design, Bidding and Estimating and Computer Programs.
