I graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Math classes included Calculus I, II, and III, Differential Equations and Matrices, and Engineering Math. My MS in Engineering Management included several classes in Statistics and Probabilities. I tutored middle school students 12 hours per week for two years at Ramstein Middle School, Ramstein Air Base, Germany.
I believe that each student is different, and that the best teaching method differs with each student. Some students respond better to being challenged while others will require smaller steps. The goals of the students also vary, some needing only to pass while others need a solid foundation in anticipation of further study. I believe I can tailor instruction to the students' needs.

I am a question-answer type of teacher. I like to demonstrate, have them do, answer questions, clear up ambiguities, and then test or at least check to insure learning and understanding. I have a style of quiet, but firm expectations. I have a great amount of patience. I will do best with high school and college age students, and on occasion, with more mature middle school students.
I have been an "instructor"-teacher for over 15 years. I teach math, economics, finance, business, and management for several colleges. I have been a Boy Scoutmaster and merit bade counselor and have worked with youth for over 15 years. I have always been given very high marks as an instructor with many comments on my positive energy and help for students. I have an applied mathematics minor so I would be able to teach algebra, geometry, trig, and introductory calculus.

I am very patient with students of all ages and have an ability to get them to grasp fundamental concepts. My tutoring style is one of getting students to think critically and creatively and to see the fundamental patterns for successful problem solving. I do not just give students the answer to questions or a slick heuristic method for solving a particular problem. I love to teach people. However, I prefer to teach older students, such as high school and college kids, especially in math because they are often actually interested in the subject as apposed to completing their basic requirements. I am usually a very laid back teacher but can be very strict when the situation requires it.
As a mechanical engineer I have been doing applied calculus and physics since I started school. As an undergraduate I was a peer mentor to the freshman engineers. We taught the students to juggle both figuratively and literally. It was especially rewarding because I had been in their situation only a few years before.
