I went to a Magnet Middle School which taught me accerlated Math and Science. I then went on to take all Honors courses, and some Advanced Placement courses, in High school. I graduated with Honors with an Advanced Diploma. I am now a third year student at Old Dominion University where I am studying Elementary Education. I am currently a freshman in college who is double majoring in Computer Science and Math. I've done the occasional work of helping students with their homework. I have been a Teacher's Assistant for a teacher who taught BC Calculus and IB Math HL. Every so often I would teach lessons for teachers and help classes review for tests. Individually, students gave me positive feedback on help/tutoring.
Preferably 1 on 1. I like to work the problem out with the student. Start out with easy problems on their current lesson to help break down harder problems. I can do small groups as well, 3 max maybe 4, as long as they are all on the same topic/lesson.

My teaching style is tailored to the individual. The first thing I do when I'm trying to teach someone something is determine their learning style. If they don't know it I help them figure it out. I do find that most people learn best by diving in and doing it themselves first, while I serve as a "safety net". Whenever I was teaching new helmsmen or junior officers how to steer survey lines, I would direct them how to do it the first few times, and then when they felt ready to try it themselves, I stood back and let them, not stepping in until the absolute last second. Letting them make and try to correct their own mistakes seemed to be the best teaching tool I had.

I have earned a BS in Computer Science, with a very strong math minor. It would have been a double major, but third-year theoretical math stopped being fun (and computers were still fun). However, math up to and including first year calculus was both straightforward and mostly fun.
