Helpful tutor right next door!

My experience tutoring or teaching anything is from junior high with my fellow classmates to high school helping middle-schoolers. Now, in college, I help colleagues with similar studies. I continued working for Sheridan School District as a substitute teacher until around 2008, when I was about to graduate from college. From the fall of 2003 until the end of the summer in 2006 I attended Arkansas State University, where I won first place in the 2003 Freshman Writing Competition. Fun and intense. I refuse to be drab or boring. Associate learning with life, colors, songs, music, memories, movies and media. Pete and Repeat were sitting on a fence. Pete fell off. Who was left? High school was a blast, and I loved every moment!! I was the history buff, drama geek, grammar police and still am to this day. I have a positive and patient way of getting through to students. Science was my favorite subject matter in college and I like to break down difficult information into terms that are easier to understand and follow. For example, I like to break down scientific terms by their roots. In doing so, my students not only remember what the terms mean for that class but can also apply that knowledge in future class work. I also believe in using reinforcement techniques such as repetition, writing, and regular revision/quizzing of the subject matter so that this not only keeps the information fresh but also make it easier to build on that information further.

I am a bi-linual tutor. I have worked for the migrant education program in the federal programs department of the Jonesboro Public School district since August of 2008. Before that I taught ELL courses for Brookland Public Schools. I was adult education tutor for student support services at Arkansas State University and East Arkansas Community College. I have taught two Spanish Courses to high school students for the Arkansas Upward Bound program.
