I am a teacher certified in Georgia to teach elementary, as well as middle grades language arts and social sciences. I have been a 4th grade, full-time teacher. I am currently teaching preschool part-time. I served in the military, having scored an ASVAB of 99 and received an Army Achievement Medal in Florida for my role in the development of a state-wide curriculum geared towards drug education.

In 2000 I volunteered in the local high school's journalism class because of my passion for writing. The following year I was offered a position as yearbook adviser, and I further developed my skills with high school students. Since 2004 I have been a private tutor, teaching all elementary subjects as well as most middle school and high school curriculum. In 2005 I began teaching annual writing workshops at Simpson College for 6th - 12th grade students. In 2006 I attended substitute teacher training, and I began substitute teaching in 2009. I also had the privilege of instructing college students in a Volunteer Income Tax site this year. I am firm, fair, and friendly. I adapt lessons to the student's learning style, bearing in mind what the student needs for success in the classroom. I make learning fun.

I believe education is very important to children, both now and in the future. I encourage students to become lifelong learners, constantly seeking to gain knowledge and skills. I love to help children learn, and I strive to make learning enjoyable for all students. As I teach, I try to tie the content into a student's interest, thus getting them excited about learning. My teaching is very individualized toward each child. I use a variety of teaching styles to meet the needs of different students. This places each student in the best possible situation to succeed.
