While studying at Allegheny College I was pushed by my professors to achieve a high level of academic proficiency as a student, colleague, and later teacher. Very far from a vocational curriculum, Allegheny encouraged its students to broaden their view of the educative experience and to pursue academia as a multifaceted discipline. My personal passions led to self-designing a degree in Philosophy and Sculpture dubbed “the instinctual process,” which focused on my passion for art as a discipline encompassing all others. Although, I have never been in charge of my own class room I consider my teaching style energetic. I love working with students of all ages and find that teaching methods and styles tend to adapt to those individual students. I think it is important to be encouraging and patient with all students. A Little Bit About Me...

Upon graduation from the University of Toledo, I have worked in two different school districts and in almost every grade level. In the Springfield district I was a teacher aid in both first and second grade where I assisted children with learning disabilities. I currently am working with the Bedford school district where I am a literacy coach and I teach students from K-6th grade to because better readers. I also work with these students on their Math skills. In my free time I work at subway and I coach Freshman girls basketball at springfield high school and rec. co-ed soccer.
I believe the key to teaching is finding what each child is interested in and making that connection. Every child is unique and learns best in their own special way. Teachers have the ability to change the world and I feel extremely lucky to be a part of that.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a foster parent, I tutored our first child as he progressed through kindergarten and the first grade. His previous school experience was lacking at best, and he had little confidence in his scholastic ability. I was able to pinpoint his natural aptitude--mathematics--and use it to help not only boost his self-esteem regarding academics, but also to tailor my approach to his other subjects as well. Since math is very much tied to logic, using logical constructs to aid him in his critical thinking proved fruitful in showing him how to solve problems regarding tasks such as alphabetization, grammar, and spelling, among others.
