I am a Teach for America teacher. This means that in 2009, I applied with 40,000 applicants and was among the 4000 selected to become a teacher in a Title One school. As a TFA teacher, I have undergone intensive training that focuses on backwards planning and results based accountability. In the past year I have taught fourth and fifth grade subjects including: writing, science, social studies, fine arts, and technology. Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked with teens in crisis. In that role I worked with teens to develop healthy coping skills in times of great stress. I've also tutored in biology, psychology, and English while I was in college. I love working with and teaching children of all ages. I believe that children learn in a variety of ways and that if you give them time you will find their way so to individualize their learning so they will succeed. I believe all children deserve quality education and that knowledge is power! I have taught for 15 years. I began as a Preschool teacher and did that for four years. I also taught a a Charter School for at risk teens in NJ. I went overseas and taught in South Korea for four and half years, and am currently teaching in schools all over Northern Grafton County as the Education Coordinator for the Support center.
