I tend to pay a lot of attention to method, using specific problems as examples. Method is more important to me, as it expands to other problems.
I'm a college student double majoring in criminal justice and psychology. I've taken through calculus I in high school and I was considering a math major. I've tutored peers, siblings, and younger students in math, forensic science, psychology, and biology. I'm still learning, myself, but I got all A's in my math classes in high school.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutored high school students who are college bound during my undergraduate years at William Paterson University of New Jersey. I also tutored my fellow undergraduates. I then pursued a doctorate and was active in many peer study groups where were tutored each other in neuroscience and organic chemistry. I have a love for science which shows through my enthusiasm in imparting scientific knowledge to others.
My style is dependent on the student. While the end result is having a student understand the material, the way of achieving this varies with each person. Some students require a lot of hand holding while some require a more hands off approach. To achieve understanding I will cater to the students needs.

A Little Bit About Me...

I'm a SCSU graduate with a GPA of 3.6. I recently went back to college to pursue a career in Anesthesia. I have a Bachelor Degree in Biology, an Associates Degree in Chemistry. Experience as a 7th and 8th Grades Science Teacher and also as a Tutor. The children needed serious help! - the Magnet School they attended told their parents they would have to work really hard in order to continue attending the school. After a couple of months under my tutoring and motivating skills they became #1 in their classrooms! I have a great gift of not only teaching a specific subject but also developing in the student a desire to succeed! My early recollection as a teacher is as a fifteen-year-old teaching ESL classes to adults.
I'm a very motivated person with a great sense of humor! I have attended seminars and read many books about motivation, people skills and children learning/developmen ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I moved to California with nothing more than a suitcase and a desire to see new places. While I was there I was fortunate enough to work with a group of formerly incarcerated young women who were affiliated with the Center for Young Women’s Development. I created a writing workshop geared toward teaching these women to use their voices and to use writing as an outlet. When I returned to Connecticut, I enrolled in the Internship program at the University of Bridgeport and I have just completed my second Master’s. During my Internship I spent a lot of time helping students with their assignments in the library and in the classroom.
I strive to facilitate student-centered learning and to be accessible to my students. I love to motivate reluctant learners and share my enthusiasm for written and spoken language. I am calm, patient and kind and never offer constructive criticism without ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that all students learn in their own way and that a teacher must get to know his or her students in order to evaluate their strengths and specific needs. It is important to give students guidance, but also to teach them to work independently to boost their self-confidence. I constantly seek feedback from my students and their parents to find the best way to help them succeed.
As a graduate of Yale University, I recognize the value of education for the generation of young people who will soon run our country. For the past year, I have tutored students in a wide variety of subject areas: English, History, Geometry, Biology, Spanish, French, and SAT prep. I work well one-on-one with students of all ages and ability levels.

After graduating from college with a BA, I began working for an environmental restoration and public education program. We led large volunteer groups sometime of more than 100 people, in local park and forest restoration event, and also led youth groups on 10 day restoration and hiking trips in the national forest. After this I worked for a program that places tutors in schools that are in need, where i tutored K-5 students in reading, led a ESL class of about 10 students, and worked as a teachers assistant in the class room. I have spent the last several years at a monastery where I have had experience mentoring and working with the public in meditation programs. I am a recent college graduate who is very focused and motivated. I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and graduated early. While being in school I was enrolled full time taking five classes a semester, along with working full time. I have great time management skills, and I am a great teacher. With my studies I have become a better writer with all the research paper I did for psychological experiments, along with having a better understanding with math and statistics. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated Rutgers University majoring in Biology and German, and minoring in Chemistry. I have a strong science background, which I will continue to expand by completing a PhD at Yale starting in the Fall. I have experience tutoring students in math during the last 2 years of high school, and 1 year of calculus tutoring in college. In addition, I tutor my 13 year-old sister in all the subjects of her curriculum.
My approach is to determine the student's weaknesses, and then formulate analogies to explain the difficult concepts. I study the student's learning style in order to infuse the new material as easily as possible. Additionally, I introduce new ways to understand the material, and then observe the student's reaction.

I love student centered teaching. My favorite population is middle school level students. I am available to tutor in Spanish, English or Language Arts. My goals are to help students build their self-confidence and love learning. I believe all students are capable of achieving and becoming whatever they wish to become.
As a United States Peace Corps Volunteer, I was trained to teach English as a Foreign Language in Quito Ecuador for two years. I passed the Foreign Service Institute Language Proficiency Test and I set up my own classroom for middle school students. I also taught adults and adolescents at South American Spanish Insitute when I returned to Ecuador to live for two more years. In addition, I taught adult foreign nationals at the University of New Haven's English Language Services program. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is a combination of serious, in-depth theory and practical examples to demonstrate such theories, all with a hint of humor, followed by significant practice of the newly learned skills. I've been "teaching" people all of my business career. I always start with the underlying theory and immediately segue into a practical example of how the principles work. I think students want to learn, but need the information presented in a way that makes learning interesting, not boring. I have that ability. I'm able to integrate relevant practical examples because I have a very broad range of experience, having been an entrepreneur and turnaround management consultant for over 40 years.
I taught a computer "cap-stone" class to graduating seniors part-time at the Katherine Gibbs school for 1 semester. There were approximately 14 Seniors in the class and we utilized all ... read more
