Reading Comprehension is one of my top subjects!

My comments on tutoring Reading Comprehension : I teach reading (communication skills) as a College Professor and I have written articles, such as "An Introduction to Computer Literacy", for reading textbooks. I have helped many students to learn to read faster and with more comprehension. I am patient and understanding.

Reading is the Key to Success!

My teaching style is flexible. I create a lesson plan that is individualized and benficial to that of the student I am tutoring. I adapt and adjust the curriculum to what is of primary importance to my student.
I have worked in the field of education as a teacher for 30 years. I have taught basic skills in foundations of Reading to middle school students. I have also taught all subject areas to elementary school children. The most memorable and most valuable experience in my career was teaching first graders how to read. It takes a trained professional to be able to lay out the framework children need to learn how to read. Every child can learn, just not in the same way!

I am an Elementary school teacher for 6 years. I have my BA in Psychology, from Rutgers University, and hold my teaching certificate for Elementary K-6 and Special Education K-12. Prior to being a teacher, I have worked for an outreach program, working one to one with Autistic and Down Syndrome students. I have over 19 years experiences teaching in Drexel University's First Year Writing Program. My experience includes teaching online, face-to-face, and hybrid classes ( partially face-to-face and partially online). For the past 5 years I have also taught ESL sections of First Year Writing. In addition I ma a tutor for the University Writing Center, a position I've also held for 10 years.
My teaching philosophy is simple, help students write to the best of their ability, give them the tools to engage in critical thinking, and challenge them to write about what they are interested in. Writing is clearly a skill that crosses majors, and is a critical skill in the workplace.
