For example, making a sandwich you first use the bread to contain the other ingredients such as the meat, vegetables and condiments. This basic understanding of ingredients on how to make a sandwich is applicable to the atom. An atom is made of protons, electrons and neutrons. At a major university, biology and engineering students, let alone chemist need to take general and organic chemistry. So it is required to tailor how I tutor to what they needed. In some case it was a guide through problems because they knew the basic information and could not correlate from one step to the next.
