I have been in educator for over 10 years. I started teaching because of my volunteer work at the Memphis Literacy Council. I love teaching because I believe that education is the key to our country's future in this global competitive marketplace. We must prepare our children for the challenges of tomorrow because we live in such a dynamic world. I believe that every child can learn regardless of his or her situation. When given enough time on task and effective, instruction all kids learn. This is what I do.

I am certified to teach in both California and Texas in a K-8th grdae classroom. In California I taught in a self contained 5th grade classroom. In Texas I taught 7th grade math. I also hold a supplementary credential in California for Business. I am a strong believer in teaching a student how to learn. By that I mean, students not only need to know a specific subject matter but also how to aquire and use knowledge. My background is mostly in math and it is what I enjoy teaching the most. I like to use manipulatives to teach. I think students learn better if they have a "hands-on" approach.

I am also a poet and an inspirational and motivational speaker. I have written poems for my coworkers for twenty years at my employer. I would say that my style of teaching is creative. I stress the fundamentals, making sure of the foundation, but remain creative in the approach that reaches the student. For example, I made music videos to explain International Standards Organization 9001 principles for my audit students. My techniques have been very well received! Learning is fun! I make it so! As a Chemical Engineer I have a diverse set of skills upon which to draw upon for a variety of subjects. As a substitute teacher, I have been called upon to engage students on a one-on-one basis in the classroom at both the middle and high school level. I have bsc in physics/math/electricalengineering.I have been teaching maths and physics for more than 15 years in different parts of the world.Eventhough currently I am working as an electrical engineer, I teach physics and math for higher grades in my spare time. I challenge the students by raising a question or writing a problem on the board and asking students to share their ideas with me . This provides the students with the opportunity to think about the problem on their own, to determine their own strategy. During the discussion, they also have the advantage of seeing other ways of approaching the problem. When the problem proves too challenging, I usually give them small step by step hints and direct them to the answer.
