One of the greatest joys of teaching is seeing each one of my students grow as an individual and academically.I have always wanted to be a teacher since I can remember. My teaching style consists of finding that unique style that will suit each individual student. Growing up, I noticed that it was very hard for certain students to grasp certain concepts because they were not engaged in the teaching method. It is no secret that everyone learns a certain way, and no two ways are ever the same. I believe that my patience, my calm demeanor, and habit of wanting to make learning something fun rather than a job has certainly helped me in my education. I also am a big proponent of having children set goals for themselves. Setting goals makes you work harder without feeling the pressure, and I've learned that once children reach that goal they will just want to go higher.

My recent training through the nationally ranked Illinois State University English Education Program required me to work with a wide range of learners (from advanced placement students to those with learning disabilities). Therefore, my ability to differentiate instruction has certainly been polished. Prior to this training, I completed a teaching internship in which I assisted, tutored, and created lessons for young learners. Most recently I have gone through a literacy tutor training program, which provided me with extensive knowledge on how to better help students succeed in reading, writing, and math. Generally, I'm a constructivist, and I believe the best method of tutoring is providing a completely individuated scaffold for any student. While I was raised in old-school education, I believe that some of the newer techniques of education through hands-on, the use of digital technology, and through writing across the curriculum are effective for many students.
I have two bachelor degrees, one in computer science, the other in mathematics with a type 09 cert (6-12). I belong to Mensa and the NCTM, and have excellent English and decent Spanish speaking and writing skills. I have taught and tutored in mathematics and computer science for quite awhile, and I earned a 95% on my PSAT and a 32 on my ACT.
