A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated with a BS in history in 1996. After nearly seven years working for a large communications corporation I returned to college to get my teaching credentials. I completed a years student teaching and have taught middle school and high school at a local private school. At that school I often tutored students, offered help on my own time, and was the monitor of the school's study hall, Homework Club. Since 2009 I have taught adults at a local technical college. I have recently graduated from Regis University. At Regis,along with institutional lessons, they taught me life lessons as well. I honorably graduated in May on 2009 with a BA in English and a minor in Business Administration. I was taught linguistically and grammatically in my studies at Regis. I understand easy mistakes one can make, and mistakes that are hard to see and understand by just reading a paragraph. My experience is as broad as it is varied. When I taught at Sylvan, I taught every course they needed me to. When I taught professionally, I taught teams of scientists and then instructional designers. I'm comfortable with all ages and backgrounds.
Scaffolding and positive reinforcement describes my teaching style; combined with a healthy dose of humor and individual, associative modeling. Learning should be fun and challenging. Busy work doesn't have to take such a negative connotation.
