As a graduate of the University of Colorado with Degrees in a BS in Mathematics and a BS in Civil Engineering, I was very much driven to a high level of excellence in education and further learning. Additionally, I spent twenty years in the USMC, achieving the rank of Major, which gave me much self esteem in professionalism. I held several positions in the Military including being a Fixed Wing Pilot, Battalion Administrative Officer (Adjutant) and Intelligence Analysis Officer with a Reserve Unit in Denver for over 6 years. Teaching is one of the most satisfying things I have ever done. I believe that everybody can learn, you just have to find the right teaching method for that individual. There are only a hand full of methods to choose from, they include: hands on, visual, reading, hearing or some unique blend of these. These are not the only methods, but these would cover most individuals. While I was teaching I would explain the material how I understood it. If that did not work it forced me to back up and come at it from a different angle. This process not only helped the students to understand the material, it also helped strengthen my understanding of the material.

I began tutoring in high school then in college, I majored in mathematics to pursue a career in teaching. My career took another direction yet I continued my passion for teaching others through tutoring at local non-profits. Last year, I taught 8th grade math at a local public middle school.
