A Little Bit About Me...

As a Bowling Green State University student who has studied Communication Disorders I have come across many experiences with children. Communication Disorders not only includes speech, but language as well. I have gained knowledge about how children read and write and why some children may have problems with this. During my last semester of college I observed 25 hours of speech and language therpay which involved watching both adults and children. This year I will be graduating with a 3.0 in my major. I am a very energetic and interactive teacher, moving around the classroom, challenging students with questions, providing many examples and anecdotes to illustrate teaching points. This decision was due to the Police Department recruiting me to teach various computer classes to police officers. Young people learn through different ways and means. I try to discern the best method to instruct any particular student with whom I am tutoring at the time. I like to give examples of problems, and "problem solve" with the student through illustrative examples on paper or on the board. I encourage questions and feedback to ensure that the young person is indeed learning "how" to solve a problem, not simply to "get" a solution.
