I am very hand-on and like to teach through example and discovery. I have been teaching English Language Arts at the secondary and elementary levels, U. S. History, World History, for the past 5 years. I also held a position as a tutor in the Writing Center for my former alma mater. I am skilled at working one-on-one with students from all grade/age levels. Before launching my teaching career, I held positions in the heart and fitness field, in the retail clothing sector, and raised two children. I am experienced with the Common Core curriculum and understand the demands it puts on today's student. I earned a Master's Degree from LSU in communication disorders and am currently employed as a Speech Pathologist in a local elementary school. As such, I have experience working with students of all ability types and learning preferences. I aim to provide my students with individualized instruction to match their specific needs. I am available for subject-area tutoring, previous grade mastery instruction, next-grade readiness instruction, standardized test prep tutoring, and study skills instructions.

With 2 BS degrees, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, I have been exposed to all of the most important fundamental disciplines that children need to be successful today. Math and science are my strong points, and I have much experience as a peer tutor throughout my collegiate and high school studies. I feel very comfortable teaching physics, chemistry, calculus and math in general. I have also volunteered my time to assist elementary school students with the language arts: i.e. sentence structure, spelling, grammar, etc. In general, I like to assist the student visually and with real-life examples of how subjects such as chemistry, physics, and math can be applied to everyday life.
