I love teaching and learning new things and believe it should be a fun experience. I have an 8 year old daughter and a mother currently taking college courses so I have learned a great deal of patience over the years and developed a relaxed, happy personality.
In 2005 I graduated from the University of West Florida, earning a BA in psychology with a 3.5 GPA. During that time I was vice president of an on-campus meditation group that lead people in meditation and relaxation techniques. I'm known for my patience working with students with foreign-language backgrounds and other disabilities such as a lack of attention and focus. I learned from my professors at Swarthmore College (and a few at Penn) how to project a non-B.S. style, since kids tend to intuitively realize when their teacher has no idea what he/she is talking about. A Little Bit About Me...

I have had many years in the feild of education, K - secondary. I have had the chance to teach many children with different disibilities during this time. After moving to Florida I began teaching private guitar and art lessons on Tyndall AFB and at my church. Having this experience has also taught me many things about how to deal with people and how different people learn differently. I've learned that the most effective way to teach (espcially art or music) is one on one or in small groups. My teaching style is very simple, but is one that took a long time to learn. In college you are taught everything but HOW to teach. I learned the HOW by watching my teachers and having some very good mentors. I began to ask myself, " why do I learn more from this instructor than that instructor?" No matter what the subject is, you have to learn 2 things to reach the student. One, how does this student learn. Two, you can't force the information. I feel that a student learns more and shows more excitement when they are allowed to find answers on their own. This also takes building a relationship with the student.
